Irish ME Trust Sponsorship Celebrates 20 Years of Unwavering Support

Invest in ME Research is grateful to announce continued sponsorship from our European ME Alliance co-founder, the Irish ME Trust (IMET). This marks their 20th anniversary year while supporting our International ME Conference Week (25-29 May 2026).

With minimal sponsorship over 20 years - typically just covering free registration gifts - IiMER has consistently subsidised researchers, clinicians and patients to attend events, with the aim of i ncreasing knowledge or ME and bringing researcgers, clinicians and patients togeter. The charity has always aimed to bring more experts from outside the field to ad new expertise - effectively also mainstreaming research into ME. This has been facilitated by the generous donations from IMET.

This enduring partnership—active every year since IIMEC began in 2006—has been important for biomedical ME research advancement. IMET was a key co-founder of the European ME Alliance (now representing 18 nations across Europe and increasing) and was a staunch supporter of the development of EMEAx`.

IMET's previous donations have also directly funded research programmes and the Centre of Excellence approach at Norwich Research Park, alongside their 20th charity year celebrations.

IMET's administrative sponsorship also assists the charity in being able to free resources to enable promising early-career researchers (ECRs) to present their work, network with international experts, and forge the collaborations essential for ME research momentum.

Invest in ME Research extends heartfelt thanks to the Irish ME Trust for two decades of generosity that sustains global collaboration and nurtures ME research leadership.

The conference week events take a great deal of the charity's resources to arrange as, apart from all of the speakers at the events, the charity is supporting the European ME Research Group and Young EMERG, and also an increasing number of researchers and clinicians in order to increase the opportunities for collaboration and cooperation in research.
Thanks to our supporters we have managed to continue this for twenty years.

For over twenty years, Invest in ME Research has demonstrated a track record of practical initiatives fostering international—particularly European—collaboration in biomedical ME research, always advocating for the welfare of patients.

Initiating collaborative networks such as EMERG (European ME Research Group), EMECC (European ME Clinician Council), Young EMERG for early-career researchers, and co-founding EMEA (European ME Alliance) now representing 18 European nations with more joining—all showing sustained resolve to make progress in ME research and treatment. The Norwich Research Park Centre of Excellence initiative and annual International ME Conference Weeks have also been instrumental in connecting researchers, clinicians and industry professionals to advance serious ME research. All achieved with limited resources.
